Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open today the newly constructed apron and taxiway constructed as a part of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Expansion Project.
The expansion is supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the Special Terms for Economic Partnership.
The ceremonial opening of the newly expanded sections was also be graced by Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga, Japan Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mizukoshi Hideaki, Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksha, State Minister of Aviation Chanaka, JICA Chief Representative Yamada Tetsuya, and Airport Aviation Sri Lanka Limited Chairman Major General (Rtd.) G.A. Chandrasiri, alongside other officials.
