The Ministry of Power and Energy signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the Project Apollo between Ceylon Energy Pte Ltd and the Ceylon Electricity Board recently. This agreement signals the beginning of a transformative project, the construction of a ground-mounted solar plant with a generating capacity of 10MW.
Ceylon Energy Pte Ltd’s Chairman, Madusanka Fernando, Gratian Muththukudaarachchi, General Manager, Cai Weifeng, Representatives from Quigdao Hujintong Power Equipment Co. Ltd., (HJT) China were present at the event.
This initiative represents Sri Lanka’s broader vision for a sustainable future. With a total investment nearing US$8 million, the project underscores the nation’s commitment to renewable energy and its ambition to achieve a remarkable 70 percent renewable energy target by 2030.
