Sri Lanka dug out its strong coffee past yesterday with the launch of the country’s first-ever coffee festival.
The Sri Lanka Coffee Festival was organized by the Australia Market Development Facility (MDF) to bring awareness on the potential in the island nation to grow the crop, and celebrate the coffee culture with some of the top cafés.
The objective of the festival, which will hold several events in the coming weeks, is to bring Sri Lanka’s specialty coffee under fresh spotlight.
The global specialty coffee market was estimated to be US $ 35 billion in 2018 and is expected to grow to over US $ 80 billion by 2025.
