Sri Lanka has set up a business council with Western Asia’s Jordan to firm up and boost economic ties and trade between the two regions.
The SriLankan Embassy in Jordan together with the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE), and the Jordanian Businessmen Association established the first ever ‘Sri Lanka- Jordan Business Council’ by entering into an agreement.
In the inauguration ceremony that was held virtually, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Jordan Shanika Dissanayake urged Jordanian entrepreneurs not to consider Sri Lanka as a non-traditional market and to unlock the untapped potential in Sri Lanka in various sectors.
Dissanayake added that the embassy will organise B2B meetings with members of both chambers to enhance the Sri Lanka – Jordan business dialogue for a stronger engagement, to create greater awareness, and to improve brand recognition for Sri Lankan commodities in Jordan.
