Taking a firm stand against the violence incited against peaceful protestors who have been calling for the establishment of a people’s government for nearly a month, trade unions across the country will withdraw from services tomorrow.
Over 2,000 trade unions will go on an indefinite strike from midnight today a move to show they are against the government.
On 6 May (Friday) trade unions across the country took part in an island-wide hartal. The move brought the economy to an almost standstill state for a day.
The trade unions warned previously that if the government does not heed to the call made by the people, an indefinite strike would be launched from 11 May onwards.
