UoC law students win WTI’s Moot Court Competition

Sri Lanka came under the fresh international spotlight with a team from the University of Colombo (UoC) bagging the World Trade Institute’s (WTI) 2021 John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition.

The win at the Moot Court Competition, brought about by a four-member team, is the first for Sri Lanka.

Representing Sri Lanka on the international platform was UoC Faculty of Law Students Avishka Jayaweera, Adithya Ramanitharan, Sandun Batagoda, and Saheli Wikramanayake, who were coached by Harish Balakrishnan and Harrison Mbori.

The team from UoC was also awarded the Overall Best Written Submission on behalf of the Respondent at the Global Rounds and at the West and South Regional Rounds.

Meanwhile, the best orator of the Grand Final was Wikramanayake.

The WTI shared that all four members will get a tuition fee waiver for two courses of the WTI Winter or Summer Academy in 2021 or 2022.
