The Police Department marked its 148th police commemoration day since its inspection in 1866, today under the patronage of Inspector General of Police (IGP) N.K Illangakoon at the Police Field Force Headquarters. 3,075 policemen had laid down their lives in order to protect the country from the clutches of terrorism while 1,297 were disabled in service.
