A special traffic plan would be implemented with effect from today until February 03 surrounding the areas of Independence Square in Colombo due to the rehearsal of the Independence Day celebrations.
The 72nd Independence Day celebrations would be held at the Independence Square on February 4.
Police said several roads would be completely closed from 6 am to 1 pm and that traffic along the other roads would be restricted during these days.
Accordingly, the new traffic plan as follows:

| February 1 | 6.00 am to noon |
| February 2 | 6.00 am to 1.00 pm |
| February 3 | 8.30 am to 1.00 pm |
| February 4 | 4.00 am to1.00 pm |
Police request motorist to use alternative routes to evade the traffic.
