MAS Holdings emerged as the champions of the 2024 Mercantile Swimming Championship, securing a total of 559 points at the event held yesterday (1st December) at the Thurstan Swimming Complex. This victory marks their 11th win in the 15-year history of the championship.
John Keells Holdings PLC claimed the first runners-up position with 524 points, while SriLankan Airlines rounded out the top three with 520 points, securing the second runners-up spot.
The competition saw the participation of around 500 swimmers from 33 mercantile organizations, competing in a series of exciting events. The championship was organized by the Thurstan College Aquatic Club in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), marking the 15th consecutive year of the event.
The Chief Guest at the ceremony was the distinguished Old Boy of Thurstan College, Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Sampath Thuyacontha, Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, who graced the occasion with his presence. Pix by Kushan Pathiraja
