Asalanka to lead Lanka’s Emerging Squad

Former U-19 skipper Charith Asalanka will lead Sri Lanka’s strong Emerging Squad at the ACC Emerging Team Cup 2018 cricket tournament to be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Kamindu Mendis is the vice captain of the side. The team includes former national players in Asela Gunaratne, Jeffrey Vandersay, Asitha Fernando, Shehan Madushanka and Avishka Fernando. A promising batsman Hasitha Boyagoda also in the squad.

Sri Lanka competes with India U-23, Afghanistan and Oman in group A while Pakistan U-23, Bangladesh U-23, Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates will compete in group B. Group A matches will be held in Sri Lanka while group B matches will be played in Pakistan.

Sri Lanka will play their first match against Oman on December 7, followed by Afghanistan on December 8 and India on 10th. Both semi-finals and finals will be held in Colombo on 13th and 15th respectively.
