Wicket-keeper bat Niroshan Dickwella an opener Danushka Gunathilaka failed to find a spot in the 17-man squad named for the three match ODI series against Bangladesh starting this Friday. Dickwella did not find a place in the World Cup squad but was named in the 22 preliminary squad named last week for the forthcoming series on the back of some solid performance with Sri Lanka A.

Gunathilaka who has gained full fitness following a back injury was also in the initial squad, but did not make it to the final squad. Dasun Shanaka who had a great outing in the practice game hitting a quick-fire half century will be back in the side once Lasith Malinga steps aside after the first match. Spinning all-rounders Wanindu Hasaranga and Shehan Jayasuriya has come back into the side along with spinner Akila Dananjaya and fast bowler Lahiru Kumara. Thisara Perera has retained his place in the side despite a mediocre World Cup.

Sri Lanka will play Bangladesh on July 26, 28 and 31 at the R Premadasa Stadidum.
