The West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva’s mother was moved to tears after meeting Virat Kohli after day two of the second Test. in a heart warming video, Da Silva’s mother, Caroline Da Silva, a die-hard Kohli fan, hugged and embraced and Kohli was also seen exchanging pleasantries with her as he was walking towards the team bus.
"Meeting Kohli was not planned at all. It all happened on the spur of the moment", the mother, speaking to this Reporter from Trinidad, says.
"Our son Joshua Da Silva came home some months ago and told us India would be coming to Trinidad for the Test Match. I immediately reacted, oh, I am taking vacation as I am coming to see Virat Kohli bat, to which he responded what about me, and I lovely and joking with him said I see you everyday".
"So fast forward to today, all innocent and in the spirit of love of the game, 1st the meeting was not planned. We came down as we usually do to get Josh’s laundry and to introduce him to an old friend’s daughter and son".
"While we were chatting, we saw Virat Kohli on the bus and Josh knocked on glass and said look mom. None of us expected him to get out. I was very content with a wave, and was equally surprised he got out. The greeting was warm and friendly, mostly joking about what Josh told him on the field about me coming to see him", she said.
It was rare for an opposing team player to wish him for a century. Joshua, keeping wickets behind the stumps, did wish Kohli to complete his hundred.
"And about Josh wishing Kohli, well you need to meet my son to understand how truly special he is, his soul is pure love. I always tell him no one is bigger than anyone or what they do and when you understand we all connect and operate in harmony we make the world a better place. And why do you wish to wish Virat well, he shows discipline, dedication and determination that I believe is the foundation for any success and I do not just talk the talk he walks the walk. And why not wish people well, isn’t that how we all should be ?", she signed off. (Bipin Dani)
