Sri Lanka Emerging XI - Bangladesh Emerging XI 2nd ODI
Two fine knocks by Prantik Nawrose Nabil and Mahmudul Hasan Joy helped Bangladesh Emerging XI to come out victorious by 21 runs on the D/L method in the second of the three ODI matches played at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium today for the visitors to level the series at one each.
Bangladesh Emerging XI chasing a formidable target of 298 runs was guided by the duo making an unbeaten 92 in 116 balls that included nine boundaries and a six and Joy who made 57 in 69 balls with four boundaries together shared an unbroken 130 runs for the third wicket when play was stopped due to bad light with the visitors on 200 for 2 having faced 36 overs which ensured the visitors a win with the target at that stage being 179 runs.
The morning session of proceedings saw skipper Ahan Wickramasinghe continuing his batting prowess after Sri Lanka Emerging XI was invited to take first lease of the wicket when he made a top score of 77 in 79 balls which had six boundaries and three sixes and shared two valuable partnerships first of 74 runs for the fourth wicket with Navod Paranavithana and the other of 62 runs for the fifth wicket with Sonal Dinusha who made 62 in 70 balls with five boundaries for the host side to make a formidable score of 297 for 7.
The two sides will play the deciding third match on October 22 at the same venue. (M. Shamil Amit)
