Minister Bandula Gunawardana has officially granted permission to dub the internationally-produced biopic movie '800' into Sinhala while amending the National Film Corporation Act for the first time.
This decision serves as a meaningful tribute to the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer, Muthiah Muralidaran, he said.
Addressing the media after launching the movie trailer, he said permission to dub the movie in Sinhala was granted only for this movie.
According to the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka, it is prohibited to dub domestically produced movies in Sinhala.
"Therefore, as the subject minister, I informed the National Film Corporation Chairman and the Ministry Secretary to amend the National Film Corporation Act only for this movie, as it was produced with the help of many local actors and actresses, and to pay tribute to the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran," Minister Gunawardene added.
However, the movie is currently being shown around the world in four languages.
