The event was led by Sanasa Founder Dr. P.A. Kirivanvandeniya and organised by the officials of the Sanasa group.
A total of 292 presidents and managers from 147 societies representing the districts of Kegalle, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya participated in the full-day programme. During the proceedings, further discussion about the Sanasa Ahead project and the progress of the projects implemented through Sanasa committees across Sri Lanka took place. The problems faced by the members were also discussed, along with the future project implementation plans.
The officials present promised to share the relevant information with the members, who expressed their agreement to provide the project beneficiaries’ information by July 3. The organising committee also discussed the need to hold a workshop to disseminate this information to the membership.
Kegalle Government Veterinary Officer Dr. K.K. Vindya Melanie, who joined the event as a resource person, educated the attendees about animal husbandry and egg livelihood development. Paragammana Agricultural Service Centre Agriculture Consultant W.M. Wijeratne spoke about the benefits of Ambun banana cultivation. P.A. Kirivandeniya said that the Sanasa Suryaya programme was introduced as a 10-year project to recover from the economic crisis faced by the country in the past and to strengthen the manufacturing economy of Sri Lanka. He further stated that through the practical implementation of the programme, economic stability can be achieved by every family, from the lower strata to the upper strata of society.
