Fintrex appoints new directors

Fintrex Finance Limited welcomes two new Directors to its company. The board announced the appointment of A. Sabry Ibrahim and Shrihan B. Perera, both renowned and respected corporate personalities. who join its team as Independent Non-Executive Directors. 


With substantial years of corporate experience at the highest level in their respective industries, Fintrex is pleased to join hands with these individuals on its journey of growth at Fintrex Finance.


Ibrahim was appointed as Director, Fintrex Finance Ltd, with effect from June 14, 2021. Previously Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of Peoples Leasing and Finance PLC, he holds over 37 years of banking experience primarily in the areas of corporate banking, treasury management and risk management. His experience extends to senior positions held both locally and internationally.


Ibrahim was Senior Deputy General Manager, Wholesale Banking and Senior Deputy General Manager, Risk Management of Peoples Bank PLC. He also served as Deputy General Manager, Head of Treasury, Head of Corporate Banking and Recoveries, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Credit Officer of Hatton National Bank PLC and was Head of Credit and GSAM at Standard Chartered Bank.


He was also a Director of HNB Securities Ltd, People’s Merchant Bank PLC, People’s Insurance PLC, People’s Micro-commerce Ltd, People’s Leasing Fleet Management Limited, People’s Leasing Property Development Limited, People’s Leasing Havelock Properties Limited and Lankan Alliance Finance Limited.


He holds an Honours Degree (B.Sc) from the University of Colombo and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers – UK (FCIB). 


Perera was appointed as Director with effect from July 16, 2021. With a decade of experience in the apparel industry, Perera was Chief Executive Officer of Teejay Group and the Intimate Apparel Division of Brandix Apparel Solutions Limited, prior to joining Fintrex Finance.  


His experience extends to many years as CEO as well as positions held at senior management levels in diverse industries both locally and overseas, including the fast-moving consumer goods, porcelain and service sectors.

Having served with the Al Mulla Group, a leading diversified conglomerate in Kuwait, followed by a 13-year tenure at Unilever Sri Lanka Limited, Perera is presently an Independent Director of Teejay Lanka Prints (Pvt.) Limited and Teejay India (Pvt.) Limited, two renowned establishments within Brandix Group of Companies
Perera holds a B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering (Honors) degree from the University of Moratuwa and is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants/CGMA, UK.
