LOLC powered iPay joins hands with CBSL to promote LANKAQR drive in Gampaha

Over the years of excellence, iPay has positioned their brand name as the most vivid and the vibrant finance application available in Sri Lanka. 


iPay, powered by LOLC has advanced from a mere payment gateway in to a beyond lifestyle payment application offering an exceptional service and convenience to their customers at a distance of a fingertip. 


iPay was launched with the objective of providing innovative financial services while encouraging users to involve in a digital lifestyle. This initiative also stimulated the idea of cashless transactions amongst the users. 


LOLC Finance currently operates as iPay’s merchant acquiring partner. The app includes a host of features designed to securely integrate the customer and merchant ecosystem, making it a true fin-tech platform. 
At present iPay’s significant presence is strongly visible in Sri Lanka and Cambodia, while further global expansions are held in the pipelines, as iPay centralizes technology and convenience for the growth of the product solutions. Continuing its boundless support to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s (CBSL) initiative, to promote cashless digital payments through the LANKAQR promotional campaign, iPay had stepped up once more to support the recent promotional event. 


During the event, LOLC Finance carried out a special user and merchant acquiring campaign to promote the experience and the convenience of iPay, throughout their day to day transactions.


LANKAQR is a nationwide initiative of the CBSL, to ensure all QR codes and QR based transactions in Sri Lanka are standardized and interoperable. LankaClear has been entrusted by CBSL to implement and operate LANKAQR. 


LANKAQR allows the customer to download a mobile payment application to their mobile phone and make payments directly using the customer’s bank account. The payment is immediately credited to the businessman’s bank account.


The event was held on the 22nd of January 2022 at the Urban Council Ground, in the city of Gampaha.
Sports Minister Namal  Rajapaksa graced the occasion as the chief guest. 
Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister of Tourism and D. Kumaratunge, Assistant Governor of CBSL were also amongst the distinguished guests.


LOLC Finance PLC Chief Operating Officer, Montini Warnakula, Regional Manager, Dinesh Jayakody and Head of iPay, Charitha Jayasinghe were also present at the event while LOLC Finance teams from Nittambuwa, Kirindiwela, Gampaha, Divulapitiya and Ganemulla branches also joined in supporting the event executions. 


On the day of the event, Montini Warnakula, Chief Operating Officer of LOLC Finance PLC stated, “We believe that this initiative will further enhance the CBSL’s drive to promote digital payments across the nation.
