Upali Hettiarachchi has been appointed as the General Manager (GM)/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Housing Development Finance Corporation Bank (HDFC) with effect from February 1.
He has been released to HDFC on a secondary basis from the
Central Bank.
Hettiarachchi has an unblemished career of 32 years at the Central Banka in different disciplines. Before joining HDFC, he was the Regional Manager of Southern Province Regional Office from 2013 to 2016.
He has gained a vast experience by having been a Senior Assistant Director/ On-site Supervision Division of Non-Banking Supervision Department in 2013, a Senior Assistance Director/Off-site Surveillance Division of Non-Banking Supervision Department from 2012 to 2013, a Senior Assistant Director/Head of Project Finance Division/Regional Development Department from 2010 to 2012 and a Senior Assistant Director/Head of Credit Guarantee Division – Regional Development Department from 2006 to 2010.
He has also excelled as a Dealer/Assistant Director – International Operations Department, Central Bank of Sri Lanka from 2004 to 2006, an accountant in the Finance Department from 2002 to 2004, at the Secretariat Department (1998-2002), at the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) Department (1992-1998) and at the Provincial Office - Matara from 1989 to 1992.
His professional forte includes exposure to the public sector as a Coordinating Secretary (Parliamentary Affairs), Finance and Planning Ministry, from 1994 to 1989.
Moreover, he was also a trainer of trainers and a lecture at the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, in the subject of Introducing to banking and financial law and non-banking financial business at the intermediate level in applied banking and finance stream.
