Sampath Bank bags Bronze Award at NBQSA 2015

In recognition of its continuous effort to remain at the top of quality and technological innovation, Sampath Bank was honoured with a Bronze award under the ‘In House Application’ category at the recently concluded National Best Quality Software Award ceremony (NBQSA). 

Sampath Bank was awarded this honour for its Automated Teller System (ATS), an in-house solution the bank had developed in order to enhance operational efficiency at the bank’s many branches.

NBQSA is an annual event organised by the BCS Chartered Institute for IT in Sri Lanka with the objective of showcasing and benchmarking Sri Lankan ICT products. This competition recognizes outstanding contributions of individuals and organisations in Sri Lanka to the development of ICT whilst creating a window of opportunity for them to gain international recognition and improve standards and the quality of local ICT products and services in order to be able to compete in the international market. 

Sampath Bank’s ATS was conceptualized on the basis that numerous customers still prefer making their banking transactions over the counter at any of the bank branches. With many customers still opting to visit the bank branch to physically carry out their transactions, Sampath Bank’s ATS makes the job easier for the teller at the counter. The ATS allows the teller to avoid the tedious task of counting cash and entering monetary data as the machine automatically counts and enters the amount to the system. This takes much of the stress off the teller’s mind and enables him to provide a better and a friendlier service to the customer. 

Keeping to the bank’s pledge of breaking barriers and going beyond the ordinary banking services to cater to the banking needs of customers, Sampath Bank continues to remain at the forefront of exclusive customer convenience. With innovative products such as the ATS, Sampath Bank creates a platform whereby employees are rid of certain stress factors whilst improving customer services and building customer – employee relationships.
