A total of 14,152 Covid patients were serving home quarantine while 36,220 patients had fully recovered after serving home quarantine by now, Director of the Tertiary Care Services Dr. Avanthi Karunarathne said yesterday.
She told a news conference of the Health Promotions Bureau that 68 percent of the home quarantine patients were from the Western province while the rest were from other parts of the country. She said only 435 out of the 36,220 home-quarantined Covid patients required hospitalisation within the 14-day quarantine period while the others recovered at home.
The Director said home-quarantined Covid patients were required to get registered through the hotline 1390 and added that they were constantly being monitored by the doctors.
“The hotline 1390 is open only for registered patients. If there are any unregistered Covid patients, they can use 247 and 1999 hotlines,” she said.
She said the Health Ministry was considering the possibility of providing oxymeters to home quarantine Covid patients.
“Doctors are closely monitoring the condition of the home quarantine patients. They will advise the patients how to monitor their oxygen saturation. Even if you do not have oxymeters, it won’t be an issue,” she said.
She said exit PCR or Rapid Antigen Test was not conducted on home-quarantined Covid patients after 14 days as they were under surveillance of medical officers constantly.
