This year’s university admission eligibility threshold, based on the 2023 (2024) GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examination results, stood at 64.33%, Commissioner General of the Examinations Department announced yesterday.
Addressing the media in Colombo, Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara said that a total of 173,444 students have qualified to apply for university admission this year.
The Examinations Department yesterday released the results of the 2023 (2024) GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examinations and also announced top island rankings for various streams.
Leading the list of achievers are:
- Chirath Nirodha of Ananda College, Colombo, who excelled in the Physical Science (Mathematics) stream.
- Shehani Navodya of Ginigathhena Central College, who topped the Engineering Technology stream.
- Upani Lenora of Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya in Galle, who achieved the highest rank in the Science stream.
- Thasun Rithmika of Richmond College, Galle, who secured the island first in the Arts stream.
- Shehara Sithumini of Panadura Balika Vidyalaya, who achieved the highest rank in the Commerce stream.
