24 SL scientists included in world’s best two per cent

Twenty-four Sri Lankan scientists have been included among two per cent of top scientists in the globe in an index compiled by Stanford university USA together with Elsevier Publications Ltd, it was reported yesterday.  
Professor Meththika Vithanage of University of Sri Jayewardenepura University is at the top of Sri Lankan dons included in the list.   


Six dons from Peradeniya University, five from Kelaniya, four from Kelaniya, three from Sri Jayewardenepura, two from Rajarata one each from Wayamba and Jaffna universities are included in the list.

In addition two from International Water Management Institute are also included in 
the index.   


A salient feature of the index is the inclusion of State Minister Channa Jayasumana who is a professor of pharmacology from the University of Rajarata. He is at the 11th slot among the list of Sri Lankans. Wimal Senanayake, S.A. M. Kularatne, Asitha Dr Silva and Nilanthi de Silva are also among those who are included in the list.
