Claiming that spill gates of Randenigala and Rantambe had been opened by some vandalizers even without generating hydropower, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera requested the Speaker to take steps to provide security to reservoirs.
He told Parliament that some trade unions were engaged in a trade union action and that they could not be allowed to resort to acts of sabotage. He said if sluice gates of reservoirs were opened without generating hydropower as an act of sabotage, power generation would have to be totally relied on diesel and other sources.
