Acting Pakistani High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Tanvir Ahmed on Saturday (18) met Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven Warakagoda Gnanaratana Thera and explained on the on going investigations of the murder of Sri Lankan expatriate in Pakistan Engineer Priyantha Kumara. The Ven Mahanayake Thera had earlier written to the Acting High Commissioner and expressed the Ven.Thera’s concern about the incident and requested for a formal investigation. Ven. Thera had commended the Pakistani government for action already taken in this regard.
After the meeting with the Mahanayake Thera the Acting Pakistani High Commissioner told the media that the Pakistani Prime Minister and the government condemned the unfortunate incident and already taken action to bring the culprits to book. He said he met the Mahanayake Thera on the instructions of the Prime Minister. He pointed out the murder of the Sri Lankan engineer was an isolated incident and that it would not affect the friendly relations between the two countries.
