Following Health Ministry recommendations, the Education Ministry has decided to open all grades in all schools including pre-schools in the Western Province (WP) on Monday (March 29), Education Minister G.L. Pieris said.
While addressing the media at the Information Department yesterday, the Minister said schools with grade five, eleven and thirteen in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts in the Western Province (WP) began as the first step due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Now we believe that a conducive environment has been created to re-open all schools and all grades in the WP. The health recommendations in this regard were conveyed by the Health Services Director General.
Accordingly, all pre-schools in the WP have been permitted to commence from Monday.
Schools in other districts have already begun to cover up the syllabi.
