State Minister Diana Gamage, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MPs Sujith Sanjaya Perera and Rohana Bandara yesterday testified before the five-member committee appointed to probe the alleged assault of State Minister in Parliament last month.  “All these MPs testified before the committee yesterday, and we recorded their statement,” committee member Gayantha Karunatilleka told Daily Mirror.   “MP Piyal Nishantha who is a key witness to the incident informed his disability to attend yesterday and the committee decided to meet on Thursday once again.

Evidence will be recorded from the state minister on that day,” MP Karunatilleka said.

The five-member committee appointed by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana is headed by Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapaksa, Chamal Rajapaksa, Gayantha Karunatilleka, Imthiaz Bakeer Markar and Ramesh Pathirana.
Ms. Gamage had alleged that MPs Perera and Rohana Bandara had assaulted her in the lobby last month, while the MPs said the former had used foul language on them.
