The visit of National People’s Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s visit to India is a welcome move and it is expected that his party will work with the present government, UNP MP and Chairman Vajira Abeywardena said yesterday.

“It is good for the NPP leader to work with world leaders,” MP Abeywardena told a press conference.

“We hope that the NPP will contribute towards formulating national policies which will revive the nation. It is not something new for the JVP led NPP to work towards formulating national policies. The party has experience in doing so as it had worked with late President J. R. Jayewardene who helped them take a democratic route and thereafter with Late President Chandrika Kumaratunga, President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the government of 2015.

“Incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe also made it clear that he expects the NPP to work with the present government,” he added.
Additionally MP Abeywardena indicated that more concessions will be given to people for the Sinhala New Year.
