Appointing of new Deputy Speaker not likely to take place today

Choosing a new Deputy Speaker is not likely to take place in Parliament today as the Speaker is yet to receive information from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as to whether he has accepted the resignation letter of Incumbent Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Parliament sources said.  


Sergeant-at-arms Narendra Fernando told Daily Mirror that the Speaker is yet to receive a letter of acceptance by the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa with regard to the resignation letter sent by Mr. Siyambalapitiya.
