Army denies reports on suspension of Brigadier on duty at PM office

Brigadier Anil Somaweera of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry 142 Brigade Commander who was on duty at the Prime Minister’s Office when it was taken over by the protesters on July 13, has not been suspended over the incident, the Army said.

Army Spokesman Brigadier Nilantha Premaratna said that news regarding the suspension of duties of Brig. Somaweera was incorrect.


He said that the officer in question has been assigned to Army Headquarters.
