Around 35 COVID-19 cases are being reported daily within the Colombo City and is much better than most of the other areas in the country, Chief Medical Officer Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said yesterday.

Dr. Wijayamuni told Daily Mirror that around 150 rapid Antigen tests are taken daily within the Colombo City currently. “Tests are done mostly in Rapid Antigen Test Centre in Campbell Park while a mobile service operating within the city also carries out tests,” he said.
“There has been only 14 COVID related deaths in the city during the month so far. Most of the deaths are of those who have not had even one dose of the vaccine and few who had one or two doses,” he said.
Meanwhile he said booster doses have been given to 92 per cent of students in international schools and to nearly 50 per cent of students in public schools.
