Aspirin is in short supply: GMOA

There is a massive shortage of emergency medicines, such as aspirin, which used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, and every category of medicine items, the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) said.

GMOA media secretary Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe told the Daily Mirror that with the current shortage, many patients are under huge pressure.


However, more than 150 essential medicines, medical items, surgical items, and laboratory items are currently out of stock due to forex shortages.


People are complaining of the shortage of 75-mg aspirin in the local market and even in medical clinics and hospitals.
