Colombo High Court summoned three Australians to appear before the Colombo High Court on September 30 to give evidence in the case against MP Udaya Gammanpila over an alleged charge of defrauding Australian businessman Brian Shaddick.
High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja issued the summons on three Australian witnesses on considering the submissions of Senior State Counsel Yuvani Abeywickrama. Judge Ranaraja directed the Registrar of the High Court to serve the summons to the witnesses through the Foreign Affairs Ministry. President Counsel Shavendra Fernando making submissions stated that the evidence of one of the Australian nationals would be vital evidence since the witness is an employee under the complainant Brian Shaddick.
