Permission has been granted allowing Ayurvedic  hospitals to treat asymptomatic COVID-19 positive patients, Primary  Health Care, Epidemics and COVID-19 Disease Control Minister Sudarshini  Fernandopulle said.

She told Daily Mirror that three hospitals namely Borella  Ayurveda Teaching Hospital, Nawinna Ayurveda Hospital and Yakkala  Ayurveda Hospital had been allowed to treat COVID-19 patients. “This is  because we need to identify all possible places to admit positive  patients,” she said.

However, she said the steps would be taken to transfer  symptomatic cases to the hospitals designated to treat COVID-19  patients. “The Pallewela Ayurvedic medical centre is already treating  COVID-19 patients.
The hospitals that treat COVID-19 patients have already  reached their full capacity due to the massive spike in cases following  the festive season.
