Basil rejects social media claims on imposition of tax on EPF

Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has rejected social media claims that soon after his appointment as the finance minister he is going to impose a 14% tax on Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF).   

He made this comment when he a discussion with Parliamentarians, Governors, District Secretariats and other representatives at Temple Trees on Tuesday.   


Commenting on the vaccination program , the minister said that the ministry will allocate money unconditionally for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines giving priority to ensuring the health and safety of the people. He also revealed that steps would be taken to digitise government agencies and funds would be allocated accordingly.
