The conductor of an Avissawella -bound private bus from Colombo had bitten off a part of a passenger’s earlobe during an altercation.
When the passenger who boarded the bus at Navinna on Sunday night kept standing near the driver’s seat after paying the fare, the conducted had requested him to move back but to no avail.
The conductor who lost his temper is alleged to have assaulted the passenger, bitten off the passenger’s earlobe and swallowed it.
Amazingly the passenger had not felt that a piece of his earlobe was missing until a fellow passenger pointed it out to him.
When the bus stopped at Meegoda he had made a complaint to the Meegoda police. The conductor who attempted to hide himself among the passengers was arrested and the injured admitted to hospital.
The 25 year old suspect from Galagamuwa was to be handed over to Maharagama police since the incident had occurred at Maharagama.
OIC Meegoda police CI Neville Priyantha had conducted preliminary investigations and arrested the suspect.
