CAA tells importers to display maximum price

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has directed importers to display on the label the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) on five goods in the English language effective from November 1. 

The CAA advised importers also to display the brand name and the registered address of the importer, clearly on the pack or the container of each product in the English language at the point of entry to the country.  


Accordingly, confectionery items including chewing gum, chocolates, biscuits, cakes and toilet soaps should display the above details from yesterday.  


In the extraordinary Gazette Notice, the CAA advised the importers to display the Maximum Retail Price (MRP), the brand name, and the registered address of the importer, clearly on the pack or the container of each product in the English language at the point of entry to the country.  


“Confectionery items including chewing gum under the HS Code No. 1704, chocolates under the HS code Code No.1806, biscuits under the HS code Code No. 1905, cakes under the HS code No.1905 and toilet soap under the HS code Code No. 3401 should display the above details,” the notice said.
