While claiming that he was not satisfied with the investigation into the Central Bank Bond scam, State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal said yesterday further investigations should be carried out into the incident.
He told Parliament that the investigation into the bond scam had not been completed and pointed out that further investigations should be conducted into certain matters connected to it.
Responding to a question raised by SLPP MP Shantha Bandara, he said investigations into some incidents had been halted and added that the matter with regard to the incident as to how the Bank of Ceylon granted Rs. 10 billion to the Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) had not been investigated so far.
“How and on whose approval was this Rs. 10 billion was granted to PTL should be investigated. It has not been investigated so far and not included in any of the reports. The mastermind behind this scam should also be investigated,”he said.
The Minister said the Attorney General’s Department was taking steps to recover the undue profits gained by the PTL and added that criminal cases had been filed against the PTL and other parties responsible.
