The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has urgently informed the government to increase the fuel prices and electricity tariffs immediately, to reflect the cost.
The request was announced yesterday by the CBSL Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal following a press briefing.
He also mentioned that urgent measures should be taken to compliment the efforts taken by the Central Bank to overcome the present economic challenges and to ensure that a coordinated approach is adopted to overcome the challenging economic circumstances faced by the country and to prudently exit the COVID-related policy accommodation.
