Despite there being a slight decrease in the number of COVID-19 infections and fatalities, the Health Ministry said the situation is not yet favourable to embrace normalcy. Addressing the media, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said things could always go from bad to worse.
“It is true that we do notice a small decrease in the number of daily cases and deaths.
However, we cannot guarantee that it would continue with the same momentum,” he said.
Hence, Dr. Herath said it is not appropriate to rush into certain decisions until they see a considerable decrease in the number of cases and deaths.
“It is the responsibility of both the authorities and the general public to accomplish their respective duties under strict adherence to health guidelines, in order to experience a satisfactory situation,” Dr Herath added.
