The Ceylon Petroleum Private Bowser Owners’ Association (CPPBOA) yesterday said that fuel would be supplied to a maximum of 350 filling stations with the decision taken by the ministry.   CPPBOA Secretary Shantha Silva said that the Power and Energy Minister advised that the fuel distribution must be done using the bowsers attached to the filling stations and associated with the filling stations.    We have not been told to engage in fuel distribution process, but nearly 200 fuel bowsers have already made their presence at the Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela storage terminals, Silva said.  “With the spot purchasing system introduced by the Minister and nullifying payment by cheque, the CPC had reduced the discount given to the filling station owners to less than one per cent.”

Therefore, the filling station owners had decided to refrain from ordering fuel from CPC after the stocks they had purchased were over.

Silva added that after tomorrow, fuel cannot be dispatched until the purchased stocks are over.
