A sixty member delegation led by the Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith left for Vatican yesterday.
Head of the Archdiocese of Colombo Social Relations Unit Fr. Jude Chrishantha told Dailymirror that the delegation left during the early hours last morning, following an invitation by Pope Francis.
Cardinal Ranjith had left for Rome, taking with him around 30 of the most affected victims of the Katuwapitiya and Kochchikade Bomb Blasts. Some Bishops of the island accompanied him together with the priests involved in the two churches. Shammil Perera, President’s Counsel, the Cardinal’s personal lawyer accompanied the Cardinal.
There will be a special mass at St. Peter’s in Rome on 25th April 2022 at which the victims would be introduced to Pope Francis.
