All Catholic Bishops in Sri Lanka, priests and the lay people will come together on January 14 for a prayer service to mark the 1000th day since the Easter Sunday attack, the Archdiocese of Colombo said in its latest Facebook message.
Bishop of Galle Raymond Wickramasinghe who made a statement via the Archdiocese of Colombo Facebook page all Catholic Bishops in Sri Lanka, priests and nuns and lay people will gather at Tewatte Basilica on Friday, January 14 for a prayer service.
“We have come together and go before God who will mete out justice to those who have been affected by the Easter Sunday attacks on April 21, 2019,” Bishop Wickramasinghe said.
“We are sad that the things are not moving as it should be when it comes to the investigations on the Easter Sunday attacks. Those who were affected want transparency and justice,” he added.
The Catholic Church in Sri Lanka has been calling for the implementation of recommendations that have been made by the Presidential Commission which probed the attacks and to carry out further investigations to determine whether there was political patronage for the attacks.
