The case filed by Cinnamon Gardens Police against NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa and five others of the NFF for allegedly causing disturbance to the people and blocking the normal flow of traffic was postponed for December 5 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Court yesterday.
The case was postponed due to the non-presence of the 2nd and 4th suspects in court yesterday.
Cinnamon Garden Police had charged the accused allegedly for providing leadership to a protest at Bauddhaloka Mawatha on 6th February 2016 which blocked the free flow of vehicles and hindered the public from using the road.
The NFF members including former MP Wimal Weerawansa, Jayantha Samaraweera, Weerakumara Dissanayake, Piyasiri Wijenayake, Roger Seneviratne, and Mohammed Muzammil; were accused for staging the protest against the visit of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein on 6th February 2016.
