Some of the Opposition members in Parliament have proposed an arrangement to work together as one group in Parliament, UNP sources said yesterday.

It was reported that those parties had made that proposal to UNP MP Ranil Wickremesinghe this week after the no faith motion against Minister Udaya Gammanpila was defeated.

They are of the opinion that the Opposition should work together in Parliament to take on the government which had become stronger after its success defeating the no confidence motion. Mr. Wickremesinghe was expected to have a dialogue with the Progressive Tamil Alliance and the SLMC in that regard. UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said a dialogue will be initiated with the JVP as well.
