Chamuditha seeks Police protection

Senior Journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama whose Piliyandala residence came under attack by unidentified individuals had sought Police protection.  

President’s Counsel Kuwera De Zoysa yesterday filing an application before the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court, sought Police protection to  Senior Journalist and TV presenter Chamuditha Samarawickrama as he has become a target.  

The Counsel had filed this application under the Assistance to and Protection of Victims and Witnesses of 2015 and pleaded the Magistrate  

to issue an order directing the Superintendent of the Special unit of the Police to provide protection to Mr. Samarawickrama as his life is  in danger.  

The Magistrate directed the Superintendent or the Unit to provide protection to Mr. Samarawickrama and to report its progress in court on March 25.
