The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that it would disclose details about Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s planned official visit to China in mid-January “in a timely manner.”
“We will release information in a timely manner,” said Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to media reports regarding President Dissanayake’s visit, the Global Times reported.
“China and Sri Lanka are sincere and mutually supportive strategic cooperative partners with a long-standing friendship. The two countries maintain close high-level exchanges,” Mao stated.
“We are willing to continue the momentum of high-level interactions with Sri Lanka, carry forward our traditional friendship, and expand cooperation and exchanges in various fields to better benefit the people of both countries,” Mao added.
President Dissanayake announced last Saturday his desire to visit China in mid-January.
