A heap of clinical waste including used syringes, saline bottles and discarded medical equipment believed to have removed from South Indian hospitals had been lashed ashore in Nagadeepa in Jaffna.

Residents of the area said garbage removed from hospitals in India, dumped in the sea, and not from those in the Jaffna district had been drifted away to the Nagadeepa island.  They had informed the health authorities and the fisheries inspectors and requested them to investigate the incident.
