Residents of the Colombo Municipal Council limits will get their AstraZeneca second dose next week, Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake said yesterday.
Ms. Senanayake told Daily Mirror that the Colombo Municipal Council would get a consignment of vaccines next week from the central government authorities.
“The Chief Medical Officer of Colombo City will liaise with the central government to get the vaccines,” she said.
Those who are aged between 55 and 69 will get their second dose once the CMC gets the consignment next week. Around 88 per cent of those who are 70 years of age in Colombo City have been given the second dose of AstraZeneca, according to her.
The vaccination of the second dose which was to be given on July 8 was postponed and it was assured that a consignment which is due by the 3rd week of July would be sufficient for everyone.
In addition, 25,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines are also being administered as per the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
