An anticipatory bail application filed by Adarsha Karadana seeking an order directing the CID to release her on an anticipatory bail, if she was arrested over a complaint made by Prof. Marasinghe was yesterday rejected by Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Adarsha Karadana, who held a media briefing along with former Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra against Prof. Ashu Marasinghe had filed an anticipatory bail application in Court to pre-empt the possibility of her arrest by CID, relating to a complaint made by Prof. Marasinghe. The CID had raised objections against the anticipatory bail application citing it would hamper ongoing investigations into the complaint made by Prof. Marasinghe. A video recording of Prof. Ashu Marasinghe, allegedly showing him sexually abusing a dog, had gone viral after it was released to media by Adarsha Karandana and SJB former Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra.
In her anticipatory bail application, Adarsha Karandana informed Court that there is an attempt by the CID to arrest her over a complaint lodged by Ashu Marasinghe alleging that statements made to the media were absolutely false and a doctored video clipping had been utilised for this purpose.
