The bail application, submitted yesterday by former Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne, who had been in remand for driving under the influence of liquor and causing damage to two other vehicles, was rejected by Mount Lavinia Additional Magistrate Sanjaya L.M. Wijesinghe.
He submitted the bail application through a special motion. The suspect, DIG Seneviratne, had been arrested by Wellawatte police for causing damage to two vehicles parked in front of a hotel on Muhudu Mawatha in Wellawatte at about 1:20 am on Sunday, the 29th. A breathalyzer test had established that he was under the influence of liquor at the time of the accident.
